Galveston transportation

I know this topic has been covered a million times over but I have a question about renting a car from Texas city. Has anyone ever done a one way rental from Texas city to Hobby Airport? I can get a rental car for under $30 but am trying to figure out if the best way from port to the rental car would be a taxi and also approximate cost to get there. I have to say this is the most time I have had to spend on trying to figure out how to get to and from the port and airport. Any suggestions appreciated.

Last time I checked, it was around $50 for the taxi from the port to Texas City. I agree about the difficulty with logistics for the fly-in cruiser to Galveston.

I'm still working on a plan for our February cruise. Since our flight isnt until 6 pm we are also thinking of renting from Texas City, return at IAH. That way we can stop at NASA if we have time. If we take a shuttle to the airport we will sit there for 4+ hours. I was very surprised that the cruise line doesn't offer a post cruise tour ending at the airport.
