Port in the evening

We are in port in Curacao at the end of October until 11 PM. Figuring it will be dark relatively early and we will be back from our excursion before dark, is there anything to do around the port area after dark and is the area safe?

We were on the Breeze in March with that schedule and had hoped to explore after dark. Unfortunately, the port, other than a few restaurants, closes at dark and there is nothing to do. We ended up eating on the ship.

There are a number of restaurants within walking distance and it is safe enough if you remember usual common sense when out and about.
