candfandm Posted June 17, 2016 #1 Share Posted June 17, 2016 Anyone have directions walking from El Morro to San Juan Cathedral? After the cathedral, how would I get to the shopping district and then back to the pier? Thanks
Stinger-pr Posted June 17, 2016 #2 Share Posted June 17, 2016 This is fairly easy. As you exit the path that leads away from El Morro, take a left until you reach a plaza with a small floor-level fountain and a big totem on it's higher level. Take the street to the left and parallel to the plaza going up (or walk across the plaza itself). The street snakes left at the top, then right. You will be on Cristo street going downhill. About three quaters of the way down you will see the cathedral on the left. There's not really a specific "shopping district" in OSJ since most of it IS the shopping district. To get to some of the stores keep going on Cristo street until you reach Fortaleza street and take a left (that's the Governor's mansion on your far right on Fortaleza, by the way). You will find all kinds of stores on this street or on San Francisco street (one block north) and Tetuan (one block south). San Justo, Tanca and Paseo Colon run north-south from either of the "shopping streets". Take either one going downhill to reach the piers.

Rock_ON!! Posted June 18, 2016 #4 Share Posted June 18, 2016 San Juan is actually pretty small. You can find a map on Google. There is a free trolley that goes around the city to all the major sites. You can easily walk anywhere, it's just hot so keep hydrated.
