PBC29 Posted October 14, 2010 #1 Share Posted October 14, 2010 Is it true Miami airport is harder to get around than Ft Lauderdale? Harder finding hotel shuttles and accessible restrooms? Longer distance to gates? more or less snack areas? We fly Delta if it matters
kitty9 Posted October 14, 2010 #2 Share Posted October 14, 2010 I have friends who live in South Florida, and for years I heard them always say the avoid Miami like the plague. I thought that maybe the were exaggerating, but once I flew into and out of Miami for a South America cruise, I now believe them. The lines for check in and security are horribly long, much longer than Ft Lauderdale. I did have a tough time in their bathrooms as their HC stalls seem to be more of an afterthought and they barely accommodated my scooter. I would take FLL over Miami any day. WEELYNCRUZER Posted October 15, 2010 #3 Share Posted October 15, 2010 I avoid Miami like the plague. Fort Lauderdale is small clean and convenent. I'm in a power chair and Mami is too big.
BarbJ52 Posted October 16, 2010 #4 Share Posted October 16, 2010 We've heard the same comments but found the opposite to be true for us. We have had nothing but positive travel experiences in Miami and some of our ugliest in FLL - difficulty getting a wheel chair despite requesting wc assistance with the reservation, relegated to ridiculously long, wrap-around lines just to check luggage (while still standing a waiting for the wc), unruly passengers, ....... ugh! Give me Miami any day! At least with AA, you have a place to sit while you wait for wc assistance to the gate. I guess it just depends on the day - and your perspective.
