New Yorker Help Please

We are flying in the day of our cruise in October and landing about 10ish. We will take a taxi to the port. Is there anywhere close which we could walk to get soda/wine?

Which port? Manhattan has plenty of places on 10th and 11th Avenues (the port is on 12th) for both. However--because of our peculiar laws, you can only buy real wine in a liquor store, and they can't sell soda--or beer. Supermarkets and bodegas sell soda and beer, but for wine can only sell what's called a "wine product," which I would advise you to avoid. If you're talking about the ports in Brooklyn or NJ, someone else will have to help you.

I'll be on the Carnival Splendor, Manhattan Cruise Port, 711 12th Avenue at 55th Street. Does that help?
