Shops open in St. Maarten on Sunday?

We will be in St. Maarten on Sunday. Does anyone know if the shops are open on Sundays when there are ships in port? TIA

I was hoping you would get a reply as we will be there on a Sunday next month. From what I have heard,

(here on cc), Phillipsburg will mostly be open, Marigot will mostly be closed, and public buses will be scarce.

Yes, most shops are open on Sunday's. Especially in Phillipsburg. In fact, when we stay on the island (usually in Grand Case) we will only drive over to Phillpsburg on a Sat or Sun...since those are generally the days with the fewest (or none) cruise ships :). During the weekdays when the island is often packed with cruisers we generally avoid the city and beaches frequented by cruisers.
