Public Beach w/Bar?????

Good morning, as our cruise soon approaches, I had made plans to spend the day at Coconut Beach with a day pass. However, they have informed me due to the hurricane they will not be letting us use any chairs either at the pool or the beach. Not making for a great day in my mind.....

Looked at a couple other resorts for a day pass but wondering if anyone has an idea of a good public beach with a bar/restaurant? Not to far by taxi and hopefully not the most crowded on the island.....

Any suggestions would be most appreciated!

For a class venue away from the cruise crowds, stay the day at Jacqui O's

Great views, food, cocktails, sevice, loungers, inside seating.

Take lunch, but book early as it is a favourite of many.

Also, you never know who will turn up and join you.

Darkwood beach! Amazing beach, low crowd, good food and friendly staff! We took the bus, only cost $1.50 each way. Bravo was our bus drive, he was great... Shelmore runs the rest./bar at Darkwood and was super friendly!

So Darkwood is a bar/restaurant?

Are there umbrellas and chair there you can rent?

If I wish to take a taxi there what beach is it on or an address or will a driver know?

I've also not heard anyone mention where to catch a taxi. Husband has early onset parkinson's disease so a taxi is a better choice of transportation for us.

I was planning to go to Coconut Beach Club, but read that's been damaged by hurricane so need a new option. Thanks.

Yea, that and he must hate the owners at Darkwood as he bashes them on many posts! ;)

Yes it is a bar/restaurant. You can rent chair sand they are under a covering.

There will be plenty of taxis/vans right at the dock.

Well, there goes plan 1. There is only ship in port that day so hopefully Valley Church won't be too busy. Never been there so we'll start here. I think Jacqio's sounds like a nice experience but will save it for the next trip. The cabanas look lovely. I'd just like to know more about it first.

I think it will be a better choice for us as my husband has balance issues and being dropped off at the beach will be easier.
