digitl Posted August 20, 2014 #1 Share Posted August 20, 2014 We have been fortunate enough to visit Antarctica twice on Hurtigruten's Fram and both trips included Port Lockroy, the British 'Base A' which has been restored and is now home to a small group of hardy volunteers (in the Antarctic summer!), a museum, a shop and post office. Oh, and more than a few penguins! While we were there last time the BBC were recording a programme about how Port Lockroy changes over a year. The programme was first broadcast a few weeks ago and it was excellent. For anyone who is interested, and who missed it first time round, 'Port Lockroy: Penguin Post Office' is being repeated on BBC2 at 10:00 on Wednesday 27 August. This time it's listed as 'Penguin Post Office: Natural World'. For the purposes of identification, the visitors from Fram are dressed in blue and Fram is the red, black and white ship anchored in the bay. Enjoy!
