Leslie K Posted March 23, 2007 #1 Share Posted March 23, 2007 Would love to hear experiences of those who have cruised out of NYC in Winter. How were the seas? How long before you reached warm weather? What types of activities do you enjoy before it was warm enough to sit out around the pool?
GiaGia Posted March 23, 2007 #2 Share Posted March 23, 2007 Just off Dawn 3/11-3/23 and I can tell you the second day was a lot warmer and the third day really warm. Seas were smooth all the way. We were lucky! Sample of onboard activities: Sports Equipment in Fitness Center, Morning Trivia, Arts & Crafts, Shore Excursiion Presentation, Language Class, Cooking Demo, Bridge, Bingo, Scavenger Hunt, Sing-Along, Art Auction, Martini Clinic, etc, etc. PLENTY to do. Bring a book if these don't appeal to you. There is a great reading room and library!
seafeet Posted March 24, 2007 #3 Share Posted March 24, 2007 We have sailed out of NYC 4x's in the winter months, all on the Dawn. The winter Atlantic going out was never the problem....it was the coming back. Twice the waters were rough and the wind cold...the other two times just the opposite..warm and calm. All four trips were between February 10 to Mid March.. I always found that the first day at sea seemed to warm up around noon. So early morning (9:30ish to 11:00) was a good time to use the hottubs around the pool. Very few people, very very warm hottubs:) :) The second day at sea....perfect!!!! Leslie K Posted March 24, 2007 Author #4 Share Posted March 24, 2007 Thanks for the feedback. Sorry about the advertisement that's in my posting. I have no idea how it got there. I didn't put it there and that never happened to me before!
