Tables for 2

We are considering taking our first riverboat cruise aboard the American Queen.

However we really like our own table for meals. Do they have tables for 2?. Are they preassigned?

We traveled last March of n a close to last minute booking. My DW, because of digestive issues needed to eat at the early seating. While we prefer a larger table we were seat d at a table for two by the window. So suggest you call beforehand and insist on a table for two, they definitely have them.

We love dining at a table for two, being able to eat at a leisurely (and romantic) pace. Consequently, we have always requested a table for two and been graciously accommodated. Put in the request when you check in, but once you are on the river, quietly reiterate your request whenever you show up to dine. We prefer the later seating because the pace is a little more relaxed. Some hosts will try to fill larger tables, but they will accede to your wishes.

When we are back on the river this summer, you will see us by a window, just the two of us, surveying the crowd and savoring the meal.

We sailed on the American Queen in December 2015. We requested a table for 2 at the late sitting. It is much easier to get a table for 2 at this sitting and once it is allocated it is yours. I agree with the previous comments, we let the staff know our preference early on and they tried very hard to honour it. We had one lunch where we joined a larger group as seating at lunch and breakfast is not pre allocated, otherwise we sat on our own at all meals. Enjoy your trip.
