Transportation availability on Roatan

We have a group of 7 that will need to get from Gumbalimba Park to another location (about 5 miles away) and then get back to the ship later in the day (another 5 miles). Is transportation readily available in the form of taxi's etc? Or do I need to prearrange transportation?

I would suggest hiring a van to drive you for the day. We used Roatan Cab Tours last March and it was great. We booked on line and they were there to meet us at the dock. It allowed us to see the island through the eyes of a local and learn a little bit of the history too.

Yes. Taxis are lined up at the dock waiting for you to arrive. No reservation necessary. $20 per person, but that's for all day and anywhere you wish to go. However, the cabs are small cars, seating four passengers (max) in a tight squeeze. Not many taxis are larger minivans, but two taxis will haul 6-8 passengers for the same cost as a single van.
