Trollstigen Road on your own

Any advice on how to do a tour of the Trollstigen Road out of Molde or Alesund on your own? We neither want to book the ship's tour at a horrendous price not rent a car, so we'd love to either book with a local operator or use a public bus.

It will depend on how long your ship is in port for.

Using a local tour operator will be very expensive. Most of the time its taxi tours. You could be talking $1000,- for the day.

Using local bus is possible but again, it depends how long your ship is in port for.

The best and easy option is to rent a car. The shortest drive would be from Molde.

Ship is in port 8a.m. to 5 and 8 to6 p.m. ( Alesund and Molde).

We're rethinking to book a car for the day which is still quite a lot cheaper than the ship's tours ( 380 $ for a couple !!:eek: ). We had hoped for booking seats on a private tour group because we'd be able to see more of the route - if you have to drive yourself you'll better pay attention on the road and not too much on the scenery... ;)

Rent a car and do it yourself.
