vmcpa Posted November 25, 2015 #1 Share Posted November 25, 2015 Is there a must see in the area of Arica. How about a favorite shore excursion? Any input is appreciated.
someotherguy Posted November 26, 2015 #2 Share Posted November 26, 2015 This is an excellent port: the mummies and petroglyphs are outstanding. And for more modern history, the (disputed) Eiffel metal church, the former railroad station, and the cliff (whose name I have forgotten) for its fortifications and views. Northern Aurora Posted November 26, 2015 #3 Share Posted November 26, 2015 We were in Arica last March and enjoyed a private shore excursion organized by one of our roll call members. It was through the company South Excursions. The eight of us had a driver and lovely guide (who spoke English fluently). The full day trip included a visit to the Lluta Valley (and the geoglyphs), Azapa Valley to visit the village of San Miguel, the San Miguel de Azapa Archaeological Museum (mummies are featured here), and a stop at a local market to sample local fruits. Several of our private excursions on that B2B2B set of cruises included box lunches, and the box lunch on this particular shore excursion certainly was one of the best.
