There's a small preschool and an elementary school in the area. Be advised that there are craft and school supply type items which in the past Mexican Customs has not permitted cruisers to bring off ship. Not sure what exactly those items were. I think there was at one time an expat realtor int he area that helped set up a visit by a group of cruisers, but that was 7 or 8 years ago when the area was still recovering from the hurricane damage.

You may wish to google Maya Beach Gardens and contact them about your idea. They've been in the area a long time and know most of the local community groups and might be able to connect you or give you information.
