Typhoon season

Hi all ,we are visiting our daughter in Sydney January 2015 .Was thinking that maybe a 7night cruise on pacific jewel would be a nice way to spend quality time with her and her husband as we haven't seen them for 2 years but have just read it is typhoon season were we would be headed .Has anyone had any bad experiences at this time of year.Thanks

Actually it's the Cyclone season down under! And yes, January is fairly in the middle of the season. However the cruise companies know well in advance when and where the cyclone is and take necessary steps to avoid. This year one of the cruises was diverted south to Sydney instead of going north because a cyclone was in the area. I think that you are pretty safe so go for it!

I agree with horrie33.....ships get plenty of warning and can divert around predicted storms.

 

My suggestion would be to look at maybe Celebrity or Princess, who are a level above P&O Australia.
