Buses to the beach in Curacao

We're on a port-intensive cruise so we'd just like to spend the day in Curacao relaxing on a beach. Is it possible to take a bus from close to the port to the Western Beaches which seem to be the best to go to? We're there from early morning till late evening so we've got plenty of time but like to get out and about on our own.

Taking a bus to a Western beach is possible. However, you have to realize that even though you have long port hours - going to Knip, Lagun or Westpunt by bus will be around 1.5 hours one way.

The public bus will take you to beaches without any amenities. For the beaches with amenities you need to take a taxi or rental car.

Last time we were in Curacao we took a taxi to the Dive Bus (across the street from Pierbaai Beach) , but took the bus (looked like a taxi but said "BUS" instead of "Taxi") back into Punda. We want to take the bus out to the Dive Bus this time. Are there different bus routes? How do we know which one goes by the Dive Bus?

Taking it back into town was easy because we just waited on the side of the road until one came by, but which one do we take on the way out of town?

That looks a really good option Kitty. Checked the map and there seems to be a lot of sandy beaches there and it's not as far out of town as the others I mentioned. Hopefully Isa will come back with details about bus routes but as long as we know we need to head to the Punda terminal we'll be Ok. Thanks for your help. We love using local buses in the Caribbean

The bus fares have increased from what is mentioned on the website.

The best bet for you is to take the small bus vans to Seaquarium. These buses go via Oranjestraat + M.L.King boulevard.

The Dive Bus is right before you get to Sunscape Hotel. Tell the driver you are getting off the Marie Pampoen pier beach (they might not be familiar with the name Dive Bus).

Going back - there will be a bus stop if you walk towards Sunscape hotel (2 minute walk) on the same side of the road as the Dive Bus.

Thanks ISA65. Can you just tell me if the vans leave from the terminal by the Post Office too? We're really looking forward to visiting Curacao.
