138east Posted May 8, 2009 #2 Share Posted May 8, 2009 Welcome Gail! Please join us on the East Coast Departures board. We have lots of information for you. It would be best if you could give us as many details as possible - how many people, your exact dates, whether you are driving or flying, whether you want to sightsee in NY, your budget, etc. Car service or taxi from Newark airport is about $50 each way. If you are two people, there is one hotel that offers cruise transfers, but sometimes it is more economical to do it yourself. Some folks buy the RCL transfers from the airport and take their hotel shuttle to get them. There are lots of options which we can explore with you. ME Guide Posted June 2, 2009 #3 Share Posted June 2, 2009 Would either of you help me with where the East Coast Departures board is located? We will be disembarking in Port Liberty on April 25, 2010 and are curious about availability of taxis to JFK and cost as well as time of travel since we would like a flight around noon. Cost is more from Newark.
138east Posted June 3, 2009 #4 Share Posted June 3, 2009 Well, this is the New England forum in the Ports of Call Section of the Cruise Critic Boards. The East Coast Departures is in the section above entitled North American Homeports. It is expensive to get to JFK from Bayonne. What is the difference in price between flying to JFK and flying to Newark? Making a noon flight from JFK even on a Sunday could be very tight. Come to the East Coast Departures and lots of folks will give you their opinion.
WelshieLover Posted June 3, 2009 #5 Share Posted June 3, 2009 I agree with the previous poster. The cost of the transportation to Bayonne may be more than the extra expense to fly into Newark. I live in NJ and have dropped someone off at JFK once on a Sunday afternoon. Never again - it took forever. There are a lot of nice hotels in the Newark area to stay in. There are quite a few decent chain hotels near the Jersey Garden Outlet Mall, that are not far to Cape Liberty.
unklez Posted June 3, 2009 #6 Share Posted June 3, 2009 Doubletree in Jersey City is ok. As others have said, flying to/from is so much better than JFK/LGA.
