Thanks but I like to research the tour operator and it's hard to tell

Yes for clearing houses like shoreexcursioner and island marketing, the names of the vendors/resorts/guides usually aren't revealed. In part this protects the marketing company's relation with the vendor by keeping most cruisers from reaching out directly to the vendor, very similar to how cruise ship lines excursions have agreements with vendors to not offer activities to individuals outside of going through the cruise ship.

On a website for Maya Beach gardens which is a hotel/resort north of the cruise port that caters to land based guests, they mention a horse-back ride on the beach ran out of Tequila Beach, one of the first clubs along the malecon. The "tour" was sponsored by a company called Costa Maya Tours. However, Maya Beach Garden's says the tour is temporarily unavailable and the Costa Maya Tours web site doesn't list it.

Tequila Beach's website is showing an ATV excursion @ $79 pp. There are mixed reviews of Tequila Beach on TA, but I think they are on the beach and negatives are about high handed sales to get you to their club, and paying higher prices for weak drinks and mediocre food.
