Bug'sMom Posted July 28, 2015 #1 Share Posted July 28, 2015 We are going to St. Maarten (again) this Oct. and I really want to do this tour but this time we are going with family that has a 4, 6 and 8 yr old. They don't snorkle and I think the mom has motion sickness issues. Will they do alright? They don't have to snorkle (they could watch from the boat and/or enjoy the shallow water of Pinel Island) and the mom can take Bonine/Dramamine, right? Please tell me I'm right? lol! AnchorsAweigh2011 Posted July 29, 2015 #2 Share Posted July 29, 2015 I think your concerns are well-founded and you may want to reconsider this excursion. The speedboat is fun, but it’s not for those who have motion sickness. The snorkeling is a huge part of this excursion, so the 4, 6 and 8 year old may feel left out. Nebr.cruiser Posted September 11, 2015 #3 Share Posted September 11, 2015 (edited) We did this tour last December and loved it. However, the boats are very fast and the ride is quite bumpy--we're talking 'don't go on this if you have back problems' bumpy. it might be a problem for anyone with motion sickness problems. Snorkeling is a big part of this tour; kids might still enjoy being on the boat or swimming. At those ages, at least the older ones could learn to snorkel, I'd think. There was a little girl about 3 on the tour with her parents and she seemed just fine--wasn't scared or upset with the speed, but it's hard to tell how other kids will react. A couple of people on our boat had some issues with the ride--it helps if you are in the back of the boat; we chose the front for more excitement! It was an awesome and thrilling time, but probably not for everyone. Even though we're 'old' (69 at the time), we are experienced swimmers, snorkelers and don't get seasick easily.
