Vancouver to Seattle airport

Next spring we are arriving to Vancouver on a HAL cruise. We are not sure yet if the cruise line offers transfers from Vancouver to Seattle. But if they do not, would appreciate your input as to the options we have to get from Vancouver to Seattle. Our flight out of seattle it is scheduled for late nite on the same day we arrive to Vancouver.

Search here and West Coast Departures for many variations on your question, but in summary with a late-night flight you have time to take *almost* any of the transport options:

Amtrak is out unless your flight is REALLY late - evening train arrives Seattle King St c.10pm and you still have about a half-hour to Seatac from there.

Bus - Bolt, Greyhound, or Amtrak buses at several times during the day (usually 3-4 departures each, only the earliest of which would be too early for you to get to after disembarking)

Shuttle - even if HAL don't offer one (unlikely - there's quite a bit of demand for the service) Quickshuttle will collect you right at the pier (9am) or from downtown hotels on at least 2 later departure times. Advantage of this is that they will take you right to Seatac.

Car rental - oneway rentals to Seatac are readily available, and can be under $100 (NB: if you look now, you'll see much higher rates with dropoff fees - the closer to the date you get, the more realistic the rental agency predictions become; check ALL rental companies as some may need cars brought back while others don't, so prices vary A LOT among companies).

Fly from YVR - SEA (although it would almost certainly be cheaper to just change your departure to go from YVR instead of paying for a separate flight).

Do check or have your TA check with HAL as I would be very surprised if HAL does not offer a shuttle to SEA. I was just reading in another forum that Princess will be offer the transfer nest year for $49/p which compares very favourably with Quick Coach's $59 ($55 for seniors) and of course is non stop and very seamless.

We just completed a cruise on NCL on Sept 20, and took the Quick Shuttle.

Be sure to know which Cruise Port you are ariving at, as the only pick up point listed on-line was at Canada Place Pier, but we arrived at Ballantyne Pier and had to take a taxi to Canada Place Pier.

The bus we ended up taking had passengers already on it from Ballantyne Pier, which we found odd so I contacted Quick Shuttle after arriving home, found out that it was possible to book a pick up at Ballentyne, but only if you called the Quick Shuttle phone booking #, NOT if you booked on-line.

The shuttle was comfortable but had quite a few stops along the way to pick up travellers other than Cruisers.

A word of caution ... be sure to know what foodstuffs you are carrying with you, both on your person and in your luggage as you must get off the bus and go thru an inspection at the U.S. border, including a luggage scan. Many folks had food confiscated, and one person got fined $300 for carrying an orange in her pocket!

We had tried to book a shuttle directly with NCL, but they only offer shuttles to Vancouver Airport, not across the border to SeaTac.

Don't know if other cruise lines offer cross-border shuttles, but we did have passengers on our shuttle from HAL.
