Freeport/Nassau Sensation Things to Do?

I'm taking my first cruise on Sept 15th (4 days). Since this is my first cruise, I'm not really interested in expensive outings (I'm honestly just peeing myself thinking about all the fun on the ship). I'd ideally like to have a couple drinks and relax somewhere nice with my boyfriend. Any suggestions?

I suggest having a plan for Nassau as it can be somewhat of a let down.

Although if you just want to chill with drinks, the Senor Frog is literally right there off the boat.

We loved our catamaran and snorkeling excursion. It was a gorgeous chill ride to a beach and a reef, saw lots of fish, rum punch on the way back.

We also LOVE LOVE LOVED the Blue Lagoon. That is island PARADISE with wonderful fresh food and drinks too. A dolphin swam up to say hello as soon as we got off the ferry. Wow. We will be back. I'd look into BL first and then decide from there.

Also, our friends walked to Junkanoo beach and played volleyball and hung out for the day.

There are some options, but have a plan. Others like the Hilton I think that has several packages, maybe one is all inclusive?

When we go back to Nassau, we are going back to Blue Lagoon. (I'm going to see if the fun catamaran will take us there?!)

We love to hit the beaches. Been there so many times, and have enjoyed each of our stops. One time, we did a land vacation as well on Cable Beach.

Best visit in Nassau remains our venture out to Blackbeard Cay, which shares the island with Sandals, viewable right off Cable Beach. We hired the banana boat guy to take us out there, and back.

Take a taxi over to the beach in Freeport. Go to Atlantis in Nassau

Since it's your first time in Nassau and you don't want to spend a lot of money, you could walk about 15 minutes to Junkanoo Beach (free ). Right on that beach is the Tiki Bikini Bar and they have 3 beers and 3 shots for $9.99. Also and there is a new Fat Tuesdays that opened a few weeks ago right before you get to the beach--same side of the street. They're know for their many frozen type drinks.

Carnival now has an excursion out to Blackbeard Cay for $50 per person. They'll take you via boat to the island and back. It's 4-1/2 hrs long. You can use your S & S card on the island for drinks and food. It's call the Balmoral Island Beach excursion. They also have a higher priced one that includes some type of lunch. And, for even more money, I think they're doing a stingray and/or dolphin excursion there, too. I bet you didn't pay that much. I do agree, it is beautiful there.

In Freeport, you could take the taxi/van for $7 per person each way out to the Junkanoo Beach Club on Taino Beach. Don't get this place confused with Nassau's Junkanoo (no comparason--this is gorgeous). Anyway, when you get there, you pay $5 for a lounge chair that they'll set up for on the beach. That's the only thing you have to spend money on,basically $19 per person for transportation and a chair. If you want, they have a restaurant/bar on the premises and the waitstaff does come to your chair and take your order. Restrooms are so clean, I was impressed. And, there is a little straw market nearby if you want to take a shopping break. Google their website, I can't tell you how beautiful this place is.

Freeport:

Grand Lucaya Resort

Snorkel trip

Nassau:

Blue Lagoon

Beach by the port.

Try to enjoy the ports, as you have a sea day to enjoy the ship.

In Nassau, you'll get overwhelmed with vendors trying to sell a tour, braid your hair etc. Learn quickly to walk by and say NO. If you go into (I can't think of the name) every booth will try to sell you something whether you are looking at it or not.

P.S. It's the Straw Market on the left going towards Senor Frogs

GREAT advice. Nassau has the most 'aggressive' vendors we have experienced, IMO. And my frigging Mother seemed to explain our day to everyone that stopped her 'Oh that sounds lovely Sir but I think my daughter has already made plans for us...let's ask her, shall we!?!? Honey, this man wants to take us on a boat ride!' ;) I finally had to beg her to just stay close and politely say 'No thank you' to everyone. Lol.

For cheap, walk through a bit of the straw market if you're interested in that and hit junkanoo beach as previously suggested. I've had the three shots/three beers special and it's great! You can hit Senor Frog's on the way back.

If you're willing to spend a little dough, I would second Blue Lagoon. I have very many fond memories of that place, it is beautiful.

Atlantis is worth seeing if you like to check out giant casino/hotels, but is way too expensive to do much more than just check it out if you're on a budget.

Thank you SO much! It looks like I may be going to both Junkanoo beaches. Is there a reason why they have the same name...? I imagine that must get confusing.

Depends....:p

Actually what we really enjoyed doing in Nassau was taking the water taxi over to the Atlantis - walking to the casino and looking around - going back via the water taxi to Nassau and just walking around town - seeing the Straw Market and some church (really neat but can't remember name). In Freeport you can take a taxi to the beach - there is a neat casino there they drop you off at but you walk out the back door and there is an excellent free beach to the right where you can get drinks etc.

My hubby and I REALLY enjoyed our relaxing day at Paradise Cove/Deadman's Reef in Freeport. There were only about 20 people there the day we were there. Grabbed a cab from the port and spent the day lounging, drinking and snorkeling. http://www.deadmansreef.com

Is it easy getting a cab to bring you back to port when you are done?

We arranged a return pick-up with our driver. There were about 8 of us (not in our group, just random folks going to the same place) and the driver came back for everyone at a specific time. We just waited at the cab line in the port. I think they directed us to cabs going that way. They gave us the option of going on our own or waiting for others and getting a better cab rate.

How much did they charge?

It has been a few years since I have been to Freeport. Is this casino in the same area as the Port Lucuya shopping area? Also, what is the cost for the taxi? Thanks.:)
