Welcome to Cruise Critic!

What is "best" is what interests you, not what I say it is. If I said the zipline, and you had a fear of heights, it probably wouldn't work.

Do some research on the Princess website...what excursion interests you? Read on the portion of Cruise Critic devoted to Alaska, located here:

http://boards.cruisecritic.com/forumdisplay.php?f=55

you might find something else to do, and either do it privately, or on your own.

For all the Princess info you will ever need, the part of Cruise Critic devoted to Princess is here:

Good advice. Just what I was going to say. I would also add that there are roll call boards where you can meet people who will be on your cruise.

I would start by looking at all the excursions and choosing the ones that interest you and that are within your budget. Then continue to do research on the Alaska boards by searching with the word Skagway and you will read the posts of hundreds of people who have been to Skagway. If you still cannot decide, ask for more information about the excursion on the Princess boards to see exactly what you do on the tour to fill extra time (e.g. shopping).

The best excursion is probably a helicopter tour that lands on the glaciers, but this is well outside the budget of most people. My husband did this (well maybe it was Juneau) while I would not get on a helicopter if they paid me.

Good luck. Whatever you choose, you will have a great time.
