Current weather in SXM

Hoping a SXM local will provide some insight ....

Have been watching the St. Maarten web cam from Holland House and the weather has looked pretty dreary. I am used to Caribbean forecast almost always being partly cloudy/sunny with a chance of rain but it looks like its been mostly cloudy.

Is this common for this time of year? What is the local forecast saying about weather the next week? Just wanting to adjust my expectations before we get there.

And one more thing .. if you're a local, what's the current seaweed conditions?

Not a local but as a frequent tourist I can tell you that if I wanted to know current beach conditions I would ask a vacationer over the average local who is working and cooking and cleaning. :)

May can bring its fare bit of rain but last year we spent 9 days after the middle of the month and it was extremely dry.
