GSC - NCL Gem question

Will the secondary food and bar area (the one by the lagoon) be open when the Gem tenders there? Want to try to get a clamshell and want to be sure to be close to the food/bar and restrooms.

We were at GSC in the beginning of June on the gem and the secondary food area was not open. When I booked my clamshell the excursions desk told us they only open up the secondary area when they have two ships in port or one of the larger ships, his example was the breakaway.

We were on the Gem in June, and the Lagoon area buffet was open. We were the only ship.

Food was great, and not at all crowded.

I was under the impression the lagoon buffet was only open for the larger ships too but in May 2015 was open for us on our Gem cruise.

I guess it is hit or miss....guess we will find out when we board Saturday and reserve a clamshell.
