Another Magic rescue at sea just now

Sailing for Castaway Cay, currently halfway between Havana and Key West. Still currently stopped. Passengers from deck 10 noticed the raft and someone waiving a red flag. There looked to be about 4-5 people onboard the raft.

Yes, picking up Cuban boat people happens on a regular basis. My understanding is that they are turned over to the Coast Guard to be repatriated.

Well today was an interesting day on the Disney Magic. Rescued 5 Cuban men clinging to a home made raft constructed of oil barrels, rope and red flag. They had been at sea for 4 days and ran out of water over 24 hours ago. We plucked them off the raft, brought them aboard and gave them some much needed food and water. Sad to think their lives at home were so bad that they would risk it all for a chance at life that many of us take for granted. Be thankful everyday my friends. The Disney Magic team does it again.

As posted above, I feel very sad for those people that they felt they needed to or had to risk their lives for a better life.

Not a joking matter IMO.

Can any of us even begin to imagine how desperate you must have to be to attempt this?
