Celebrity Excursion and Maho Beach?

My wife and I are going to be on St. Maarten and are planning on doing the America's Cup sailing excursion that day. I have a couple of questions.

1) If you have done the excursion, where does the excursion take place?

2) The excursion is supposed to arrive at the ship at 1:15 pm. Can you take a taxi to Maho beach and still catch some of the plane watching? Can you take a taxi from the excursion locale to Maho beach so we can get to the beach earlier?

3) I noticed that on cruisett.com that there will be 8500 passengers in port that day. Will traffic be lighter from Maho beach on that day?

Does this excursion start and end at Dock Maarten? If so it is a 5 minute walk to the ship from there.

You will be able to see planes even if you arrive at 2 but you need to give yourselves plenty of Tim to get back to port. If your all aboard time is 4:30 to me it wouldn't be worth the hassle going to Maho and I would choose a different beach personally if that were the case.

The ship leaves at 6:00 pm that day. My thinking was leave the excursion at 12:45 p.m. (supposed to return to ship by 1:15). Get to Maho by 1:15 p.m. and leave approximately 4:00 p.m. Gives us about an hour and half to get to the ship.
