Galveston Temporary Terminal question

Does anyone have pictures of the temporary tents at the terminal?

They're suppose to be finished for our sailing, but I don't have high hopes.

To anyone who has gone through lately, is embarkation fouled up?

Temporary tents have been up since November 2015 upon arrival of Liberty!

Embarkation is not fowled up!

New permanent expansion is up and being finished off inside in Terminal # 2, and is due to be completed by end of this month April 2016 . Recently port announced this month by end of April 2016 .. We shall see???????????????????????

Month of May if not for sure logically. They have been behind schedule all along!

There has been issues with disembarkation because of lack of proper staffing by immigration causing lack of effectiveness and efficiency getting cruisers thru and to curb. Then also when this occurs RCCL will sometimes dump passengers on baggage and immigration for further complications and back up!

This is happening also at other ports in US , because of budget inadequacy and therefore lack of personnel availability and not showing up in immigration.

Immigration officers are complaining of the bad situation to cruisers , when we are going thru the process.

ALSO in Galveston they have been known for staffing Terminal # 1 full for Carnival, and short staffing terminal # 2 for RCCL, then when #1 is complete staff ....moves to # 2. But it is too late, its already backed up! !!!!!!

So don't blame old and new terminal #2 ("Galveston") when it is totally operational being a problem!

It is most likely Immigration and/or RCCL!

  • 2 weeks later...

We just returned from our Liberty cruise yesterday. We had no problem embarking or disembarking. There was a delay embarking because the cruise before us delayed but not sure why. They told us when we checked in that they would start embarking about 1:30. However we got on about 12:15.

Disembarking was fairly quick for us too. We got off at about 8:30 and got a port attendant. He took us right to the customs agent. There was 1 in front of us and then he took our luggage across the street to VIP Parking. He was wonderful.

I was in a wheelchair so our boarding may have been a little different than most but it seemed like everything was going fairly well.
