CACruzrs Posted October 26, 2016 #1 Share Posted October 26, 2016 (edited) Questions for anybody who has rented a car from Europcar in Le Havre: Does Europcar deliver cars for pickup at the cruise terminal? If not, what is the best way to get from the cruise terminal to the Europcar rental location where you pick up the car? In an earlier post, I read that somebody walked from the cruise terminal to the Europcar rental location. However, based on Google maps, their address appears to be a few miles away from the port.....or am I looking at the wrong location? Rare Hlitner Posted October 26, 2016 #2 Share Posted October 26, 2016 We have rented from them a few times. In the past (the last time in 2011) we did walk to Europcar...when they had a location on the Quai Southampton. However, it now appears they have since closed that location which is a bummer. There is still a Sixt Rental agency at nearly that same location..which might be a good option. Otherwise there is a company right in the port called "Rent A Car." I think their company web site is rentacar.fr but now sure if they actually show the port location or if you still need to e-mail them directly to rent from that location. If you can work something out...they are the most convenient as they are at the port. If you decide to go to an agency further from the port (we have also done this in the past) you will likely have to depend on a taxi. Many of the taxis will simply refuse a short haul fare....but eventually somebody will take the fare. If you really want to use Europcar we would suggest contacting them directly (via e-mail or a phone call direct to the location) to ask if they are willing to pick you up at the port (we would not be hopeful). lamchops Posted October 27, 2016 #3 Share Posted October 27, 2016 (edited) I have rented from both the Europecar (2012) and the dockside rental company. (2014) We took a taxi to and from Europecar so the savings were minimal. Renting dockside saved at least 30-45 minutes. If you plan to drive to the D-day beaches, time is valuable.
