Briksdale Glacier - Book through p&o or get the public bus?

My other half and I are trying out our first (proper) cruise in August and trying to work out whether or not to try out the Briksdal Glacier independently or whether we should just book the cruise excursion.

Does anyone have any experiences of doing this themselves?

It was quite a long drive (poss about an hour) so it will not be an easy, or reliable DIY in my opinion. It is a very good trip, but is largely a walk up a very scenic valley so you need to allow the time to do that and spend some time to take photo's etc. when you get up there as well. The troll cars are very short on supply, so do not bank on picking one of those up.

The trip also includes a drink and a cake which will not be cheap in Norway - we paid £7 for two very small cokes in Bergen about 8 years ago and do not think of buying beer unless you are thinking of taking out a mortgage!

Hi Dallen, this might help you decide, when you know what time you need to be back on board you can see if you need the 13:30 or later bus back (bear in mind there may be a scramble to get on!!!)
