Alaska with My Daughter and Daughter in-law?

Hey there have decided to treat my daughters to a cruise. Me and Hubbie are straight..love our lovely lesbian daughters and want them to have some folks to hang out with and or feel free...They have gone on a totally gay cruise once and loved it. My question: is there a ship that we all would love together? Thinking mainly of Alaska commuting from San Diego...Thanks in advance for any advice. P.s. they are also vegans...we are not.

Your "girls" should be fine on which ever cruise line you end up booking. There are typically gays and lesbians on all cruises - really. Not that the girls would necessarily want/need to seek them out.

Some of the cruise lines post LGBT gatherings in their daily schedules while others offer a bulletin board that groups can post their own meeting place and times. On the latter typically one would write a card as FRIENDS OF DORTHY.

As for dining issues - there should not be an issue with that either.

Allow me to VERY highly recommend Celebrity for vegetarian/vegan cruisers. I have been a vegetarian over 15 years and Celebrity is definitely my favorite line...mostly because of the food! There is an entirely separate vegetarian menu each night, and vegan selections are always marked as such. The food is simply delicious!

There is a travel agency out of Houston, Aquafest, that does an Alaskan cruise each September. They organize a gay group of around 120 on HAL or similiar. When we did it in 2004, it was about 2/3 gay men/ 1/3 lesbian. The rest of the 1600 passengers were regular cruise passengers. This could be the type of trip all four or you could enjoy.

What a great treat for your family! My folks took me and my gal on an Alaska cruise for my 40th birthday. We traveled the Inside Passage to/from Vancouver on the Carnival Spirit. The Carnival Spirit staff were wonderful with us and we saw several other gays and lesbians on the ship.

It was a very positive experience for all of us. We encouraged my parents to experience things they wouldn't have done on their own (like canoeing up close to a glacier and my dad ziplining through the tree tops with my better half). In turn, we did things that we normally wouldn't do like getting dressed up for a formal night dinner and playing in the casino.

We had so much fun that the four of us are going on an Hawaiian cruise this Spring.

My partner and I have traveled with aquafest many times in the past. We are going with them to Alaska in September 2009. It really is a great mix. You have all the activities that the cruise line provides plus Aqufest brings in some of their own entertainers, have there own parties and various gatherings, and have dinner as a group. They have been a class act on every cruise we have been on with them. We have straight couples that travel with us as well. I really don't think you would be disappointed.
