Going through customs

Recommended Posts

We are flying from Atlanta to Copenhagen, changing planes in Paris. Will we go through customs both in Paris and Copenhagen? Before when we have flown to Europe we have had direct flights to our destination, so this is a new experience for us.

Thanks

You will clear immigration in Paris, as this is where you cross the immigration border and enter the Schengen area, within which there are no immigration controls.

You will also have to clear security here, because you've arrived from a foreign destination.

But if you are simply connecting in Paris on a single ticket and your bags are tagged through to Copenhagen, you should first see your baggage and then clear Customs in Copenhagen. Your bag tags will show that you need to clear Customs there.
