Going to be on Antigua in June and looking for a nice relaxing beach to just hang out on. Things we are hoping for: Shade, economical food and drinks, nice water and sand, relaxing environment. Anybody have any good suggestions?

You will not find any economical food and drinks laying on any beach in Antigua. Jolly Beach is the closest you will get, because there is a slight diversity in shopping area nearby.

Jolly Beach

pros: beautiful beach, more choices for dining, a shopping center is present, you can rent a beach chair, and umbrella ($15usd), public transport accessible

cons: it's usually a bit noisy, expect to be disturbed by people trying to sell you stuff,

Not far from Jolly Beach is Valley Church Beach, which is just as good (even better). there is a restaurant and bar located on the property. This is a privately owned property, there might be a charge to enter via the owners property. This charge if for the grounds upkeep, and to keep the beach clean. However, there is an alternative access, as in Antigua, a beach cannot be the property of anyone.

The best beach i'd recommend to anyone is: Gallion Beach. It's quite a drive to get there, it's not accessible by public transportation, only via a taxi, or rental. However, it's usually very quiet. If you feel adventurous, you can take a hike around the pillars of Hercules for some breath taking photos, or take a hike to mermaid garden for some more breath taking scenery and photos. Have a snorkel and see turtles and juvenile sting rays along the shore. There is another area you can hike to for picnic lunch, it looks off into the sea, very romantic scenery.

I'm commenting as an individual who has been to most of the beaches in Antigua, and this is my favorite spot.
