charleylake,

if you have not been before to Warnemunde,it is a very attractive seaside resort, which is very popular in summer.

It has an excellent railway service, with frequent connections to Rostock. One can also travel between Warnemunde and Rostock by a boat service which docks close to the cruise liners.

Much of Rostock was destroyed during the second world war,but there are several old buildings, including the Cathedral, which are worth seeing. It also has excellent shops.

Although Warnemunde, and Rostock, are in an area with high unemployment, they are both very prosperous looking.

As noted above, both Rostock and Warnemunde are interesting with cheap, frequent, and easy train service.

If you want a car to venture on your own, you shouldsearch and/or post on the Baltic board here (under ports). I know that the topic of car rentals in Warnemunde was discussed there last year.
