GregInCharlotte Posted January 14, 2005 #1 Share Posted January 14, 2005 After all the squawking about smuggling liquor aboard NCL ships I thought some of you might want to see what exactly is offered on the Norwegian Majesty and what drinks cost. I assume (uh-oh) this menu is pretty common to NCL ships. Scans are located at http://www.gregcable.com/majestymenus/drinkmenu.htm
basketballmom Posted January 14, 2005 #2 Share Posted January 14, 2005 The only problem with the NCL drink menus is they list Wine Coolers but I went to every bar on the ship and not one bar had them. In fact all the bartenders told me they haven't carried them for quite some time. They also have other liquors that are not on the menu, like Bailey's, Malibu. funbobbymucha Posted January 14, 2005 #3 Share Posted January 14, 2005 Thanks Greg, that is quite enlightening. The prices are nowhere near what I was anticipating--pretty reasonable, actually, particularly the sorts of drinks my wife and I would want. The drink specials look good also. salty dingo Posted January 14, 2005 #4 Share Posted January 14, 2005 Thanks, after the reading the menus, I learned something. Draft beer is available. I won't be smuggling any kegs of beer, so it's nice to know I can have a large, frothy mug for a decent price!
mlh Posted January 14, 2005 #5 Share Posted January 14, 2005 Thanks Greg! I'm Majesty bound in May and this info really helps.

basketballmom Posted January 14, 2005 #7 Share Posted January 14, 2005 I know the disco bar had Grey Goose. DH likes it too! The prices may look reasonable but in some bars, the mixed drinks come in glasses the size of a juice glass!

Tluvs2talk Posted January 14, 2005 #10 Share Posted January 14, 2005 Thanks Gregg for posting the drink menu. Can you post some of the "Freestyle Daily's"? Teri
Copper_beeches Posted January 14, 2005 #11 Share Posted January 14, 2005 are also sometimes quite a bit more... i.e. $8-$10 (watch out for the monkey heads... are you REALLY going to want to pack that on the way home?? and some of them don't really have that much actual drink (the pineapple shells) in them. My updated methods will include buying a special and get the refill price on the specials every day instead of buying another souvenir glass (of which I have MANY under my sink...) buying the draft BASS ale when I can find it if I want beer, and I'm getting a couple bottles of wine and a bar set up for a drink in my cabin when the mood strikes me :-) I'll seek out the martini clinic and will attend, as long as there's nothing requiring that I have any motor skills afterward. I will make friends with the bartenders, and remember to tip early and often. ;)

PlayTheAces Posted January 15, 2005 #13 Share Posted January 15, 2005 Wow - those prices really aren't bad at all. We just got off the Star two weeks ago, and I never saw prices even close to that. The "first wave" bloody mary, prominently advertised in the "Daily's", were $5.95 from 9am until close. Unlike other cruises, we never saw any rum specials. Every special in the NCL souvenir glass was $6.95. I assumed all NCL ships priced their drinks pretty much the same. Maybe that's a bad assumption. basketballmom Posted January 15, 2005 #14 Share Posted January 15, 2005 Don't forget the margarita tasting too! There was also one night that there were free samples of all the rums they sold in the ship's store.
Theicom1 Posted January 16, 2005 #15 Share Posted January 16, 2005 I showed this to my brother in law (A cheapskate who only cruises at the third person rate), he said at only $2.50 the Golden Dawn looks like the drink for him! Anyone ever have one?
Copper_beeches Posted January 16, 2005 #16 Share Posted January 16, 2005 I had the same thought after looking at Greg's posted menus... :p I don't recall seeing that drink, and assume based on the drinks I got, that that glass is 2" high... salty dingo Posted January 16, 2005 #17 Share Posted January 16, 2005 Salty Dawn $0.99 ----------- 1 part orange juice (from breakfast) 2 parts vodka (from smuggling) 1 citrus (from breakfast - let's be flexible here, a lemon, orange, kiwi, grapefruit, who cares) Shake thoroughly (preferably with your partner) Enjoy I'll be holding clinics in my cabin all cruise long :D

GregInCharlotte Posted September 12, 2005 Author #24 Share Posted September 12, 2005 ... the menus are Dec 2004 so there may be many changes both in what's offered and what it costs. For what it's worth (a nickel?!) we found the drinks on the Majesty to be reasonably priced and of good quality.
