Best Key West port excursions

Key West is totally easy to do on your own, and some things are better on your own. If you do the trolley tour with DCL, it is a loop around the island with commentary. If you do it on your own, it is that + a hop on, hop off so you can stay and visit anything you wish.

There is a pirate museum, a small aquarium, a CVS pharmacy that sells almost everything you might have forgotten, lots of active excursions, etc. Also, you cell service works here since it is a US port.

I agree with doing the trolley tour on your own. We rode it down to the Southernmost Point (around the far side of the island) and then walked back from there. Did the lighthouse, Hemmingway's House, Butterfly exhibit. Stopped in some shops and had a great time.

Agree with the others, I'd DIY Key West. I've been there a handful of times, never on a ship. Parked the car and walked everywhere.

The Hemingway House is really cool, and depending on the interests of your children, the Little White House was interesting as well. (Our some is a huge history buff, so at six he would have loved the LWH, not all kids will though, as it can be a bit dry.)
