Tampa on Halloween with kids

Recommended Posts

Considering a cruise that leaves on November 1st out of Tampa. We would arrive the night before with our kids that are 12, 8, and 5. Wondering if there is anything family friendly and fun to do especially since they will miss out on typical trick or treating if we do this. Thanks.

what time do you arrive?????

You could go trick/treat in the hotel if arriving late ....

or Bush Gardens does a Halloween thing if you get to Tampa earlier enough and want to $$$$$

A few kid-friendly possibilities:

*The Florida Aquarium does a Halloween thing every year (Guppyween); cheap admission for kids in costume, with staff scattered throughout, at various exhibits, handing out candy. They typically do it on the weekend closest/prior to Halloween - which is a Friday this year. Not sure if they will do it that evening or the prior Sunday.

*Lowery Park Zoo has "Zoo Boo" on the weekends in October. Staff in costume, haunted houses & trails that aren't too scary for young kids, and I think they do trick or treating

*Last year the Tampa Bay History Center did a Halloween night, again with staff in costume handing out candy, etc. They did in on the Sunday prior to Halloween last year (Halloween was on a Thursday); I'd imagine they will do it on the actual night this year.

Alternatively, some of the locals that post here could probably steer you to a safe neighborhood at least reasonably close to your hotel & you could take them T/T there.

We plan to arrive around 6 or 7 pm. We had planned to go to Busch gardens after the cruise so probably would not want to spend the money twice especially for just a few hours. I will definitely look for the event at the zoo or the aquarium. Our zoo also does something similar that we typically go to but it would be a different experience- much warmer:)
