Aggiecruiser01 Posted June 5, 2016 #1 Share Posted June 5, 2016 Just wanted to get some feedback about this cruise. We booked Navigator of the Seas end of May 2017. Sailing from Southampton- Le Havre/Paris- Lisbon- Vigo. We are sailing with a 7 and 9 y/o. I know we will love it but will the kids? We like our outside activities- swimming, rock climbing, flow rider.. but is it too cold? And how about the ports with kids? We want to go to Paris but a 2.5 hour coach ride seems a bit boring. Thoughts? Thanks!!
John Bull Posted June 5, 2016 #2 Share Posted June 5, 2016 One reliable thing about the weather here is ............. that it's totally unreliable. :D Cool in the evenings, daylight until around 9pm. But daytime is anyone's guess. Warmer as you head south, though not as warm as Houston, that's for sure. Mebbe sunny & warm, mebbe cloudy & warm, mebbe cloudy & cold, mebbe cold & wet. Often all four seasons during the course of a single day, so even if the day starts pretty badly it can still end up with glorious weather. Navigator can get quite crowded indoors when the weather's against you. The drive from the outskirts of Le Havre to the Paris ring road is all divided autoroute - which makes it fast & easy but does make it pretty boring. If that doesn't appeal there are a number of other options such as the tourist/fishing harbour of Honfleur, or Rouen (halfway to Paris on the train). Or the D-Day beaches/sights/museums, though perhaps kids are too young for that? One thought - if Le Havre is your last port-of-call, if you're not spending post-cruise time in the UK and if your flights aren't yet booked or are flexible, consider disembarking at Le Havre, spend a day or three in Paris, & fly home from there. If both flights are with the same airline or air alliance & you book as open-jaw (aka multi-city) return tickets, that shouldn't be much more expensive. Needs cruise line's permission, usually not a problem. JB :)
