Hilton Riverside - Couple of questions

We are planning to book the Hilton Riverside for our upcoming cruise. I checked the maps and it shows 0.5 mile from Fulton Garage parking and 0.2 miles to cruise port. We are planning to park the car the day before the cruise at fulton and my husband will walk back to the hotel (hotel parking is $30 valet only). The next day we thought of walking to the port from the hotel. Is this doable??? Just wondering if anyone else had done this. We are new to NO area.

Thanks!

Hilton to the port can be a little dangerous.

It is supposed to be vehicles only on the road between the two, but people tell stories of it all the time.

I have not been back since the Riverwalk reopened, but previous to the renovation you could go out a back door near the food court and walk back around the back side of the building to the stairs that lead down into the taxi area of the Carnival terminal. If that is still open it is an option. Other than that I would just pay the taxi charge or walk back to the fulton street parking and use their shuttle.

A Taxi would be $7 per person one way.
