San Juan Excursion Information

I am taking a cruise with my family and everyone wants to do El Yunque rainforest. We are in San Juan from 11am to 7pm on our stop. Does anyone know how far the rainforest is from the port? I like to book excursion on my own to save money if it is early and I run a minimal chance to miss the departure of the ship. Does anyone have any tour company at San Juan they have done a rainforest tour they recommend?

The drive from Old San Juan to El Yunque National Forest is approximately 90 minutes, depending on the time of day (traffic) and the route chosen (Route 3 versus Route 66).
