Hi Neighbor!

I live about 3 hours south of you in the USA.

I can help with Amsterdam, as I was just there.

The hotels near Centraal Station are great. They are convenient to the train station...which is quick and cheap to the airport/cruise port as well. There are many to choose from and it all depends on your budget and comfort level. I found the Crowne Plaza to be very nice and in a great spot to everything we wanted to see and do. You can walk to Anne Frank House, Red Light District, Damrak is right behind you, Dam Square up the street. Nothing is very far off and transportation in not really needed unless you are not very mobile.

I have loads of info on tours to take, sites to see and pictures of it all. If you want further info...look me up. I can show you the pics I took to give you an idea of what you'd like to do. (advance purchase tickets save you from waiting in lines as well)

Avalon does allow you to prepay the gratuities and then you have a ticket to put in the envelope. We added additional tips in that envelope as we felt that the staff and cruise director were outstanding!
