LJR213 Posted April 4, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 4, 2004 I'm sure this question has been asked before, but does anyone know if there are safes in the staterooms? and if so what kind of locks do they have? Do we have to bring our own locks for them? or do we have to lock up jewelry and extras at the pursers desk? Any input on this would be great. thanks Explorer of the Seas
BaumD Posted April 4, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 4, 2004 Assuming you are asking about the Explorer, there are safes in each cabin. Cabins on ships either use a 4 digit code (that you pick)or use the strip from one of your credit cards. Have been on so many ships, can't remember which one the Voyager class ships use. You don't need a lock.
CruiserCanyon Posted April 4, 2004 #3 Share Posted April 4, 2004 The Explorer uses the 4-digit code, I just used my stateroom #, 7513, but when you get on its open and you can change it whenever.

judyzoo Posted April 6, 2004 #5 Share Posted April 6, 2004 Just be a bit careful. On our last cruise (on the Majesty), our safe would usually reopen itself a few minutes after we locked it. And the safe in another cabin of our group couldn't be opened the usual way and had to be drilled open to remove the contents.
