Daily Cruise News Letters, Evening Shows

Hi everyone. I have never been on a HAL cruise and am wanting to look at what types of activities are planned on the ships. We are going on the Zuiderdam and would love to know where I can find old copies of the news letters the ship has put out.

On another note, What types of shows does the Zuiderdam have on board. How many of the nights on a 7 day do you have production shows. The last Celebrity trip we took gave us 4 which we really liked. Are the shows well done and what are the topics of each of the production shows. Thanks so much for any help you may be able to give!

I just returned from the Zuiderdam yesterday. Night 1, a terrific comedian, he was a scream!!! Everyone raved about him. Night 2, a decent juggler/comedian. I give him a B-. Night 3. Cast and crew did a show. I did not go. I've seen the same show (different cast/crew) twice already this past year and couldn't bear to see it again. Although, the first 2 times it was well done and enjoyable. Night 4. Elton John impersonator. Fabulous. Looked/played piano/sang just like EJ. Night 5. A magician. Didn't go. Too tired. Night 6. Cast and crew again. (Actually, I may have mixed up the days, but the performances are correct. Night 7. Cast and crew show. Again, been there, seen that. Also, one of the nights, at 11:30, they have an Indonesian or Phillipine crew show. It's worth it to stay up and see it, at least once. Didn't do it this time, but again, been there, seen that. They also play it the next day on your tv in your cabin, but it's not as good as being there "live."

I meant to also reply to your question about activities on the ship. I tossed out all our daily schedules and didn't bring them home, but they have something to do every hour of every day. Bingo, casino, kareoke, jogging, shore excursion talks, trivia games, shuffleboard, pool contests (swimming pool, that is), health/nutrition/exercise lectures, shipbuilding, tons of kids activities through the HAL kids program, daily quiz (in the library), afternoon tea, etc etc etc.

You can do as much or as little as you'd like. There are games and books you can check out in the library, movies you can check out (all free), plenty of quiet lounges, nice bars/lounges at night where you can dance, or sit quietly, or watch sports, whatever's you're pleasure.

Thanks so much for all your information. It was a great help to me. I have heard that HAL does not have much activity but it sounds like that is just not so. So glad to here that. I would still love to see a daily activity news letter if anyone knows where one is posted let me know. Thanks Again!

First ime on HAL...

Do they have wine tastings, cooking demonstrations, gambling classes, etc. ?With the poker craze lately, I'd like to give that a try...I know how to play poker, just not sure how the betting thing works. What about those silly newlywed/couples games? Those are hysterical! What type of music is played in the various lounges & showrooms? We are in our early 40's and hoping since this is a year-round caribbean geared towards families, we would hear some "familiar" music. How late is the disco open? ..and if I hear "Celebration" or It's Raining Men" one more time I will kill myself! What's there to do after 10pm if not going to the show (my dh doesn't have any interest in music/dancing broadway type shows)?
