dandsfranklin Posted December 17, 2007 #1 Share Posted December 17, 2007 These cabins are located just above the Degas Lounge and the noise is TERRIBLE. We traveled with two other couples. We personally had cabin 6442. The extended balcony was wonderful and the L-shaped room was nice. However, the noise from below was unbearable. It vibrated the floors, windows and even the glass shelves in the bathroom. You could hear every word of the song and every strum of the guitars, not to mention the bass. All very loud. We requested a change of room immediately, but weren't moved until the next day. The first night in the cabin wasn't very pleasant. Just beware of these cabins unless you are a VERY heavy sleeper, or you don't stay in your cabin much.
serene56 Posted December 19, 2007 #2 Share Posted December 19, 2007 I have to ask--what time did the noise happen.? Usually these rooms are only used til midnight and its all done. For people who are early to bed-- especially on the first night-- it can be a bit much. But I have sailed on a few ships in this general vacinity and not heard nothing, except the first night on the Destiny.

We thought maybe it was extra loud because we were sitting still (as in not moving) in port (waiting on the fog to dissipate so we could begin cruising). I don't know it that's why, but it was very, very loud.

Even so- the people should have told you that it is not the norm for bands to be playing so late into the evening in those lounges, it was a fluke for sure. How did you like your cabin? Did yours have a sofa? Where did they move you to? We took the L shape cabin on deck 7 on the Liberty and I hated it.

How did you like your cabin? Did yours have a sofa? Where did they move you to? We took the L shape cabin on deck 7 on the Liberty and I hated it. Spoke with Carnival yesterday and was told that those cabins in that area are considered the "night owl" cabins. Since we booked our cruise through a PVP with Carnival, it would sure have been nice to have been told this prior to accepting these cabins. We certainly would not have booked them, had we known about the noise ahead of time. I liked the layout of the cabin, but not any better than the regular ones. I didn't really get to enjoy the extra long balcony due to the fog, but I don't think it would have made that much difference to me. No, there was not a sofa. There was a table and the chair to the vanity area was a larger chair with arms and not just a stool. They moved us to 8259, which was great for us. Quite. Our friends also moved from the aft cabin due to noise.
serene56 Posted December 20, 2007 #6 Share Posted December 20, 2007 Night owl cabins? now how odd is that. I never heard them referred to as night owl cabins. We had cabins on the Victory. Destiny, and Liberty on deck 6 aft and not had any of that noise that you experienced. Even on the Destiny-- which we did hear it in the hall way but it was completly done way before midnight. I wonder if the call the cabins on deck 6 on the starboard side located above the entrance to the casino night owl rooms. Now those cabins are loud since the band under there dont start plaing until after 10 and the cabin sits directly ontop of the band. Where the aft cabins sit on top of the seating areas of those clubs.
katzeyes Posted December 20, 2007 #7 Share Posted December 20, 2007 We have had this cabin on both the Liberty and Conquest (we liked it so much on the Liberty we had to have the same cabin on the Conquest). It is a wonderful room and we didn't hear any extra noise -- and we are not (always) night owls. I would book this room any time I can because the balconly is so great and the views are also. :D
dandsfranklin Posted December 20, 2007 Author #8 Share Posted December 20, 2007 Our cabin, 6442 was on the port side directly above the band in the Degas Lounge. That's why ours was louder than 6554. Although it was really loud in 6554 too. I just wish we would have been told ahead of time that they were "night owl" cabins.
serene56 Posted December 20, 2007 #9 Share Posted December 20, 2007 If you look on deck plans you can see "night owl" rooms On the Spirit class ship- check out the riveria deck all the way aft. they are 1A's If these cabins that you had were indeed night owl rooms why did you pay full fare for them. I dont think the person you spoke to knew what they were talking about...more or less justold you "crap" to make you feel better.

One was the extended balcony and one was an aft cabin.
