  1. I also find the wording for this offer confusing. I just went into my cruise planner and purchased the BOGO 2 night specialty restaurant package for $30.00 per person for 2 people. Thanks, Mary

So, my question now is since you paid for the BOGO 2 night Specialty Restaurant (SR) Package for $30/person for 2 people ($60):

What SR will they have you eat in on each night (night 1 & 2?)

Does that $30 for each night cover the total cost of where you eat or will you pay the difference?

Is there an SR that is only $30 for a meal? I don't think so to my knowledge. Example: Chops $42, Izumi A LA CARTE, Jamies $35 and Wonderland is $49. So, I paid $30 BOGO, would I have to pay the extra $12 (Chops), $19 for Wonderland?

    Anyone have experienced this recently?

  2. You do not get to choose the first restaurant, the ship chooses for you. Space permitting, you can change once you are onboard.

You also choose the second restaurant onboard.

Thank you! This is what we thought as we always use the Diamond Plus BOGO on the first two nights. It was not very clear on the Web-Site.

Could say it is somewhat miss-leading the way it is worded. That is why we don't buy the X-nite dinner package. If you are Diamond Plus it is not the best deal. JMHO!

  3. bOGO 2 NIGHT DINING PACKAGE PRICES STARTING FROM*$30.00 USD Adult

We are Diamond Plus on RCI and have questions on this offer.

It says: Starting from $30.00. However, we we try to exercise this option we do not see a Restaurant to book. We only see the Date and Time.

Has anyone recently used this option and can clarify what this really is and how it works?

May you use your OBC when booking this on-line?

Below I have included the write-up. Thank you for any info.

  4. Most lines forbid PAX bringing any heat-producing electric appliances, like coffee makers, liquid heaters, hair dryers, and such. also, don't try to bring your own extension cords and power strips.

Some of what you said is true. However, we have always taken:

    Hair Dryer

    Extension cords

    Power Strips.

We have cruised RCI (Harmony), Celebrity (Reflection), MSC )Divina), Princess(Regal) and NCL (Escape) within the past six months and never had a problem with any of those items and never hide them. There were in plain sight when we left the cabin and never were told to remove them. Just don't leave them plugged in.

In addition, on NCL they do provide coffee makers in veranda cabins in the Caribbean.

  5. I like a lot of the changes Celebrity is making. IMO most of them make Celebrity better for me and not worse.

Not being funny or nasty. What changes has X made that you find better for you and not worse? Over the past couple of years X has tried different changes that never lasted long such as Bistro on 5 to Sushi on 5, Pub food on deck 3 where the small bar is, Wine Master changed to Beer parlor. Reduced size of MDR and allowed only 1 entry on deck 3. A big Shop on deck 5 next to the World Bar selling watches only and never seem to be busy. I could add more that I don't think X really planned these out well.

  6. Been on escape 2x, getaway 1 in past 9 months and never seen a 5 day pkg for $99. A 3 meal SDP is $98 including 18% tip.

Where can i get the 5 for $99 as we are going on escape in nov.

I am wrong!!! With the 18% the meals are:

    3 meal is $81.42

    4 meal is 99.12

    5 meal is 116.82

We had the 4 meal pkgs.

    Sorry.

  7. Hi BirdTravels The 5 day package costs $99 ( ie five meals)so I can't see how they will let you spend $58 on one meal

  8. They sell the same watches on other cruise lines with those totally inflated prices. Before you buy them on the ship, do a search On-Line and if you find the watch at a cheaper price they will match the price if it is from a store and not Ebay. This also applies to finding something at a port. Ensure that you bring proof of the price back on the ship with you.

  9. Also tried Divina for itinerary and won't go back. Great price and beautiful ship and good food in sports lounge(yes free burgers and pretty good wings too).

Entertainment was far too opera and classical for me and the food in MDR was poorly presented and meh. Servers after 6 days had no idea who any of the exact same people were and didn't really care to connect.

I don't really get the people that rave about the food or entertainment on Divina but if you enjoy opera and significant classical music give it a try, the price makes it attractive and the ship is gorgeous.

Everyone has their opinions. Everyone should respect others and their opinions. Our opinion of MSC is totally different than yours. Entertainment was excellent as there were Production Shows every night on MSC. Yes, they had an Opera ONE, (1) night which we thought was OK, but not great. Classical music? I have seen more on Celebrity. You may have had a poor waiter and Asst. We had an excellent staff on the Divina. Perks on MSC were fantastic since we were given Black based on our Diamond+ on RCI. Four meals in the Specialty Restaurants. That is about a $200 value when you compare to the price of SRs on X (Tuscan and Maronos.) Drinks cheaper and most everything else more reasonable on MSC. The only thing that was less was the size of the TV in the cabin. Very small and had to wear my glasses. L:OL

We were on Divina in Feb 17 and then on the Reflection Feb 17. Got off Divina and onto Reflection. We thought Divina was much better than Reflection overall. FYI- We are Elite+ on Celebrity.

Two sides to every coin! LOL Happy Cruising!!!!!

  10. Anytime Dining was not offered on Dawn Princess or Sun Princess for our cruises. We know many people who love Princess. Based on our 2 cruises, we choose not to sail with them again as NCL is a better fit for us.

When did you cruise Dawn and Sun? Yes, Dawn (Feb 06) and Sun (Dec 95) are very old ships. We have been on 52 Princess cruises (since 1987) and normally within the top 10 cruisers on each Princess cruise. We just got off of the Regal (built May 14) and cruised on the Royal (built Jun 13) and both those ships are really great. I am not questioning whether NCL is a better fit for you, but we have done the NCL Escape (Feb and Nov 16) and the Getaway (Sept 16) and the Regal (Mar 16 and Mar 17.) Each one of these ships (NCL and Princess) have something to offer. We cruise them all and enjoy them all. I can find things that are not to our total liking on both NCL and Princess. However, anyone may find them both to their liking and totally satisfied. We just got off of Celebrity Reflection and were disappointed in the food, service and other things. We are Elite+ on Celebrity so we have cruised on them over 20 times. Would I say not to cruise on Celebrity? NO, we did enjoy the cruise. Would we recommend Celebrity? We would not say DO NOT CRUISE X. NO! It is your choice. It all depends on what you like and your experience. It is always your personal choice and someone else on the same ship and line will find it different.

At one time we would not cruise NCL ( from 1996 until 2016. We did the Norway 4 times and the Norwegian Crown (Apr 96) which was the original Regal Odyssey in Oct 89. Then we never went back on NCL until the Escape Feb 16. NCL sold out to Star which is a China Company.

Now we really like NCL! Different cruise lines offer different experiences. So,. we don't have a favorite as we still cruise Celebrity, Costa, HAL, Princess, MSC, NCL and RCI. Each one has its + and -. Happy Cruising!!!

  11. Anytime Dining℠ - Princess Cruises

Anytime Dining℠ • Anytime Dining℠ Fresh and Flexible, Dine Any Time Just like a restaurant at home, Anytime Dining enables guests the freedom to dine when and with whom they wish, at any time between 5:30 PM and 10 PM. Reservations are available through an onboard dining hotline, but not required, and diners may choose

Try the Regal or Royal as they are new ships and very good. We cruise NCL (Gold), MSC (Black), Princess (Elite), Celebrity (Elite+), RCI (Diamond+) and HAL (Copper.) They all have something to offer, Only you can say whether you will like it or not. People post their experience and their judgment of food, entertainment, etc. One cruise on any ship/line doesn't give the whole story. JMHO!

  12. I like Gambees' reviews However, it is like everyone has their own opinion. Pizza on MSC - personally I think it is the worst. I don't like thin pizza. I have found over the years that everyone has an opinion and it is based on their own taste, liking, etc. I personally don't like the MDR on Celebrity now that they put in the Suite MDR. It decreased the size of the MDR and on deck 3, there is only one entrance. That means you really have to GPS to find your table if it is on the left side of the MDR. LOL

So, until you try that ship/line, you are the only one who can determine if it is for you.

  13. Like others have posted about their experiences years ago. We cruised MSC Lirica back in 2006 twice and thought it was OK, Food was poor, service very slow and entertainment very good. So, we waited until 2016, 10 years later and found the Divina excellent. Yes, many foreign languages during announcements. Mainly production shows, no comedians. However, as we all know: Food and entertainment subjective. We don't mind the various languages and enjoy meeting people from around the world.

We experienced the same with NCL for years and recently started cruising NCL.

We do many cruise lines each year to keep cruising fresh and see other menus, entertainment, etc.

Everyone has their favorite. Some don't like big ships, others don't like small ships. We don't have a favorite now since we do most of them and they all offer something different, but many things are the same, too.

Cruising is GREAT! Enjoy your favorite. What you don't like does not mean everyone else will not like it either. Opinions are free for all. LOL Happy Cruising!

  14. All the silliness of bridges aside..

If you don't like what Celebrity is doing (which we don't) find another line to try and compare (that's what we're doing).

While I understand this is more about the direction Celebrity is taking, all this over the loss of a free burger is nuts. Which they'll be charging for in the bars soon! LOL!

You are totally correct!!!! That is why we are cruising MSC and NCL now. We still are cruising RCI and Princess. In fact we are on RCI, MSC and NCL for our next 4 cruises this year!!!! X is out of the current choice.

  15. I just went to the MSC site to check on this. It says that the status match is a one-time thing. I think that means that my Elite gets me Black on one cruise, but after that I only get whatever I am due based on sailing on MSC. But even a one-time match is nice, would be useful if MSC had some special itinerary I were interested in...

    Stan

Just checked my status again and we are still Black for our next cruise in the Fall of this year.
