  1. What would you do? We put a deposit down on two Central Park balcony rooms for a family of four on Allure. Looking at the Getaway... We can get one Family balcony cabin for around the same price. Can we fit four in that cabin? What ship is better? Would you switch to one room on the Getaway? We don't care about the itinerary. Thanks

Why would you want to fit a family of four into 1 cabin unless the children are underage? What does you family consist of? We have been on the Allure 2 times and had a Central Park balcony. That was really the best. You cannot go wrong on the Allure. Stay with what you have.

  2. 3 drinks are enough

Yes, many people only drink 3 drinks. That is why I said 'Please do not say that 3 drinks are enough each evening. I am just comparing the actual perk between the two cruise lines. RCI beats any other cruise line for this specific perk.

However, depending on what you choose on Celebrity it may take 2 coupons for 1 type of drink. Have seen people complain about this.

  3. Very small compared to the lounge used on Celebrity Summit and Constellation. We did not have an appetizer line, but the wait staff came out and were constantly handing us snacks. The drink list on Celebrity seems much more extensive. We never had an issue with the Elite events on Celebrity with crowding that I have heard on the RCI forums....it wll be interesting to see how our cruise on Grandeur will be in March.

We do Celebrity S-Class and last month we were on the Eclipse 13 days. Celebrity used the 3 coupon (paper, not on your cruise card) per night and thus you only got 3 drinks per night from 5-7PM. Whereas, RCI has theirs from 5-8:30PM plus the 3 drinks every night that is loaded on your cruise card.

On Celebrity on embarkation night and Sr. Officer night you did NOT get coupons. The 3 coupons for the other nights were dated and thus you could only use them on that dated night.

The Celebrity appetizers passed around were very minimal compare to RCIs buffet style line. Drinks on RCI were much better, too. Celebrity Sky Lounge was very busy each night and service was very slow.

Please do not say that 3 drinks are enough each evening. I am just comparing the actual perk between the two cruise lines. RCI beats any other cruise line for this specific perk. Princess has an in-cabin set up of drinks and a happy hour where you can get a specific drink of the evening for $5 each. NO comparison.

  4. Just to let you know there is no "dress code" in the dining room for breakfast or lunch minus walking in in your swim wear. We roll in there in workout gear right after we getup for breakfast. But you do have to get there in time for breakfast, which we do find difficult some days [emoji41]

Do they allow muscle t-shirts (t-shirts without sleeves) now? They didn't before.

  5. When we made Diamond plus years ago there were some nice perks over being just Diamond, IMO. For our next 5 cruises booked, we are avoiding Oasis class.

I'm not sure we will return.

I don't believe you get more perks on any other class ship. In fact the perks from Diamond to Diamond+ are just about nothing and are the same since the Oasis class combined this lounge. Are you talking about the Diamond/Diamond+ lounge on the Oasis class?

  6. We met one couple that has cruised Princess for years and said they won't again that it's been going downhill every year.

Regardless of the Cruise Line we hear that comment from many people regardless of the cruise. All cruise lines are going downhill every year. We do RCI, Celebrity and Princess ever year. People are people. Cruise lines are cruise lines.

  7. I, and others tried out the second level of the Diamond club on the Oasis and found the seating to be most uncomfortable. We quickly bee-lined back downstairs with the crowded Diamonds. I agree, as Diamond plus, we did not enjoy the changes.

Actually as Diamond+ we gain nothing in reality from bumping up to Diamond+. I personally don't like the 24hour Internet perk. I would rather see xxx number of minutes such as Celebrity has, 240 minutes.

  8. They are one in the same, called the diamond club

So they have combined both into one now. How does that one lounge accommodate all of the top three levels? Do they still use one of the lounges such as Boleros for the evening 5-8PM drinks?

Apparently this no longer exists. (Obtained from Perks sheet.)

15 The Concierge Lounge is designated as a smoke-free area. We respectfully request that guests observe a Smart Casual dress code when visiting the Lounge (no swim or pool attire is allowed, footwear is required at all times). Guests 21 years and younger must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times. Guests and friends of Suite guests/Diamond Plus members are not allowed into the Concierge lounge due to limited space.

Yes, I knew you were on the Oasis as I have been following your excellent daily review/postings. Thanks for the pics. Greatly appreciate them. Enjoy your cruise. We are on her next month.

Are those pics of the Diamond Lounge or the Concierge Lounge?

  10. Thank you for your responses.

It looks like there is a chance for improvement here where Princess is concerned. If corporate actually makes these decisions, it would seem possible to contact them prior to the sail date. RC allows for these things 30 days in advance. If the MD actually makes these decisions, it would seem he/she would want to do it prior to the sailing, with the chance of avoiding the embarkation day line.

Still looking forward to this much needed vacation!

Stop and think about it. Do you think Corp or MD would want people calling them before their cruise to find out what table they have? Lets see, there are ~ 2,000 passengers, so that would be only ~ 1,000 who would call to find out 'what table do I have?' LOL

  11. Thanks everyone! I'll be sure to put a hole punch in our luggage. Normally, I'd opt for my pocket but we're supposed to dress in layers (Alaska in 2016) so I'd get confused as to which pocket in what layer I had put the card in to!

    Thanks again!

You don't need to take a hole punch. They will punch a hole in it for you on the ship. Normally you can have this done at the Passenger Service desk. Happy New Year!
