When booking over the phone I gave the Virgin rep the link and I was told I needed the booking number too. They could not apply it to my new booking. I can see how the link works to book online but has anyone done this over the phone and what did you need or give them to do it?

Yes the link is only valid if you use it to make your booking online. As I understand it if you make your booking over the phone then you will need the booking number for the person who provided the link referral.  You will need to get in contact with them, get the booking number and then VV will use that to link up your bookings and allocate the sailor loot bonus!

  2. If you enjoy CelebrIty’s ambience, go with Beyond. She looks an absolutely gorgeous addition to the fleet! Speciality dining is still extra but sure you’ll have plenty of OBC to cover that being in a Suite. They also offer a better suite product IMHO with both a dedicated indoor and outdoor area plus a dedicated restaurant Luminae.

Not saying Virgin wouldn’t be great also, I think you cant go wrong giving them a go and decide which one you’d prefer to book for your next cruise!

  3. Oh I’ve just seen this thread and a good idea to keep all the referrals grouped together.

my referral is for an Australian 5 day cruise ‘Melbourne to Hobart and Back’ not until 16 Dec next year. Which is probably the longest wait time we’ve had for a cruise (well excluding Covid of course!).  Hope someone can make use of it during the promo period. Thanks Virgin Voyages for such a generous offer!

  4. Hi Gang

Very excited to have the chance to try out Virgin Cruises on the new Resilient Lady when she comes Downunder next year. Also hope someone may be able to utilise this reference and get us both some Sailor Loot to enjoy!  I have to admit we did not think we would be fans but the more I’ve seen here and YouTube I think we will be on for a treat!

This is a five day cruise to Hobart, Tasmania round trip from Melbourne.

Being only your son they could make the sofa itself into a bed and not use the lower trundle.

We have had 2 children with us in the cabin, one was on the sofa the other in the pull out trundle. Both agreeed the sofa was more comfortable than the trundle, which has a pretty thin mattress.

  6. It's possible an upstairs corner of Eden could be used as a library or reading room? If I recall correctly, this is what Royal Caribbean did with Two70, a similar lounge on the Quantum Class ships.

The couple of shelves in 270 On Ovation OTS Could hardly be called a library, but the upper seating area was definitely a nice hideaway to relax with a book!

  7. We loved those earlier go big promos also as we travelled with our 2 kids quad share and they both got the classic non alcoholic package....such awesome value for us as a family

Sadly the recent and current promo only only applies to the first 2 in the cabin. I have seen a recent promo where 3/4th passengers sail free...so that may compensate a little if you could grab such a deal.

  8. Agree that the itinerary can sometimes affect nightlife and where reputation for 10.30pm curfews may have started from [emoji2]

We’ve sailed on her 3 times and the first itinerary (Hawaii to Australia) was a little quiet although luckily we were in a group and made our own fun...they learnt to keep Quasar open after 10, heck to 1am for us [emoji23]

Next itinerary was a South Pacific cruise ex Australia and was much more lively in general. Martini Bar, Quasars and Sky Lounge were all lively until wee hours.

Last cruise was Singapore to Sydney and again I recall the venues were quite lively some shut ‘early’ around 11pm-midnight but plenty of people were still dancing and prancing at Quasars!

On the other hand I could understand an Alaska cruise with more ports combined with big days whilst in port could cause the energy levels to dwindle somewhat not long after dinner, so could be quite a different experience! [emoji42][emoji42][emoji42]

  9. Marilyn- Why do you think that the Edge Sunset Bar will have a smoking side? On M-Class on two of my recent cruises in 2017 (Constellation and Summit) they eliminated the smoking section in the Sunset Bar probably because it is above cabins with balconies. They did have a smoking side on my cruise in March on Solstice. Not sure about other S-Class ships. But you would think on the brand- new Edge they would not allow smoking at this bar but only in other specifically designated areas.

On Solstice class it is one of the few places that is specially designated for cigars also. I would expect being an open air bar that it would have a smoking area also on Edge.

I think the port side smoking areas on 5 deck on Solstice class are more likely to irk those in cabins just above them on 6 deck more so.

  10. I think it would be a perfect spot for sail away, it will be busy for sure but that just adds to the sailaway vibe!

We’ve always had sailaway there on Solstice, except when we departed from Singapore where it was too hot and humid so we hit the Sky Lounge, to still get great views as we sailed out along with air conditioning [emoji12]

Sometimes when the sunset bar got a little too busy we would move down one Deck to the OceanView outdoor area and bar, often overlooked and not as busy.

Edge appears to have a bar at the rear of Oceanview although inside (it may be a servery can’t really tell on the deck plans), so that could also be an option.

Of course the new Rooftop Garden could also be a great place for sailway, with possible live entertainment hanging out in those trees!

  11. Could you also please show me where my cabin is.

I am yet to book. 🤪[emoji12]

    Sorry, couldn’t help myself.

Some awesome pics have been published lately as Edge nears completion. She’s looking great, and excited to hopefully start seeing some 'near completion' interior shots.

    Thanks Lloyd555 and other contributors!

  12. I'm surprised to think the Top is just a (potentially flimsy) Canopy. Not what I ever imagined for this Iconic feature.

I am wondering if this canopy is only temporary, perhaps for use in the main 'reveal' ceremony? But is not intended for regular use whilst cruising

  13. I’ve also noticed the crazy prices, we are from Down Under and even Sth Pacific and New Zealand Itineraries are so high.

And don’t mention the Transpacific cruises between Australia and Hawaii - they used to be a bargain due classed as a relocation cruise (without any perks) but are now priced outrageously higher than even 'regular' cruises yet they still do not include any perks.

Demand is high obviously but will be interesting If some of these inflated prices will hold.

If they do it sadly means Celebrity will be out of our budget for future cruises. [emoji22]

  14. Hmmmm. I can definitely see Virgins style shine through, but tend to agree not so revolutionary in design, at least not what they’ve e shown this far.

First impression of 'The Manor' nightclub was that it was a direct take in Royal's 'Music Hall' found onboard their new Quantum class ships. Not that that’s a bad thing....it tends to be a very popular venue and great for watching live bands and dancing.
