  1. It is just gambling, sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. Play for the entertainment and if you come out with any or all of it, then it would be extra special. I wish you good luck.:D

So true! I'm not a big gambler but it can be a bit of fun. I always remember my first trip to Vegas...20 some years ago...I had heard all about the free drinks you got whilst playing the pokies so wss keen to enjoy a drink or two 'on the house'..

Well it turned out to be the most expensive free drink I ever got as think I'd spent $150 on the pokies before a waitress even came near me lol. But yes I did have fun [emoji13]

  2. I think competition is healthy for the industry.

I just cannot see Virgin competing only against X but also any and all other lines, being new, people may want to test the new line. It would need to establish itself and people will soon rank it against the corresponding cruise line whether that be budget, deluxe or luxury.

Agreed! Sure look forward to hearing more about this new competitor ...they are known to enter a market with a bang, or maybe a splash in this case!

  3. On the Reflection your given promotional cash on your sail card and you could cash out the winnings on the slots.....we played the tables with obc and converted into cash.

Started with $150 obc and turned it into $220 cash.

  4. We've accepted an Upsell on Caribbean Princess to Suite F305

Has anyone had experience in this cabin?

    So excited

Lucky you! Enjoy the 'Suite' life [emoji12]

  5. A full set of cocktail lists including zero proof can be found here

    http://www.cruisewithgambee.com/celebrity-drink-lists/

They will also make any virgin frozen drink you like, Virgin frozen daiquiri, mudslide or lava flow etc if you ask. The cost for them should all be within the classic package limit so covered.

My son experimented with a few Virgin frozen drinks last cruise and we never had an issue with them not being included on the package.

  6. Agree with the above comment:

We tried the so called "Gelato" with our free coupons last year on the TA from Miami to Rome (Reflection). It was flavorless, tasteless and boring.

Compared to the REAL Gelato (which we enjoyed in Rome) we would not even pay 1 $ for the Celebrity product.

But his often does one get to the local Roman gelato bar whilst on a cruise? [emoji38]

When I am cruising in Asia or Caribbean then it's not really an option to compare!

  7. Am I right in thinking that with Captains Club members benefits you are eligible for complimentary gelato from the place near Café Al Bacio?

Yes you get a coupon that qualifies you for 1 free scoop! We used it last cruise and they were very generous with the scoop I must say!

We bought it a few times extra as loved some of the flavours (the Dulce de Leche was to die for!!) and found both taste and consistency were far superior to the ice cream/sorbets at the buffet (which were already pretty good!).

Maybe those that didn't like the flavour they had try a few different ones next cruise...they were happy to give free tastings [emoji12]

  8. Is this old news that they either insisted, or recommended that reservations for kids be before 7:30pm?

Yes I recall that restriction when the new kids pricing was introduced, even if it was only for the more formal venues (eg Chops Grille) however there seems no mention of it now in their FAQs.

  9. ROFL. Too funny, but completely agree. The marketing teams buzz words! Even the description for the Standard drinks package in the Cruise Planner leaves you wondering .....

    "Standard Package

    Prices Starting From*

    $45.00 USD Adult per day

    ADD TO CART

    Overview

Choose from Premium and Classic Packages in both spirited and non-spirited varieties, or a new Standard Package of value-priced spirits."

I think that one is less Humpty Dumpty and more Round and Round the Merry Go Round [emoji15][emoji848][emoji37]

  10. I've been on one celebrity cruise. Now going on 3 more in next 8 months. My issue is we booked a cruise for April. Loved the perks but after we booked we printed off what we were getting. Was exactly what we were told. But when we went on line it wasn't the same as we printed off. No OBC. But price was right. Called Celebrity. The now new rep, old one gone says its right in our system yeah you have the OBC..great!! my question is why doesn't it show online correctly.

His answer was oh website isn't accurate. So what else isn't accurate? The price? Room?

Not sure how to handle. By the time we go on the cruise in April this guy will be gone. So the good thing is we have a copy of cruise that was booked with OBC. Do we just keep it till we cruise? And bring it with or call again and have him update online so it's correct?im kinda anal and like all things correct before we would go. Any help would be appreciated.

I don't know why but their promotion supplied OBC never shows up in My Celebrity. It should show on your invoice however, if you don't have one request it from them.

But regardless, it will definitely be added to your sea pass ax count and viewable inline within 24 hours of boarding!

  11. Do you know how much the "ultimate dining" package is? Is it offered on every ship? We will be on Equinox for 10 nights in March 2017 for our first Celebrity cruise!! :)

As per flyer on is USD29 per day - must be booked I believe for full duration of your cruise on Day 1.

On M Class 5 nights is 2 in Qsine and 3 in either Ocean Liners (different name on each ship) or 3 in Tuscan Grill if ship has had refit. Last year on Infinity which has been refitted to Tuscan we got a refund from 5 nights to 3 because we didn't think Tuscan was any where near value for money compared with the old SS United States.

Check out this flyer which covers ship by ship details. Its a little old (2014) but the split by ship/restaurant should still be accurate :-)

  12. On the Connie back in March, my husband and I were at Ocean Liners the same night that two parents were there with a kid who was maybe 3. He was eating chicken nuggets and french fries. He was perfectly well-behaved, but I overheard the mom say that he'd had to pay the full cover charge.

I don't know how much a babysitter for two hours would have cost, but would it possibly have been higher than $50 for chicken nuggets and french fries?

Just saw a flyer posted on another thread that Celebrity now offer kids under 3 to eat free and kids 4-12 to eat for a small cover of $10 at speciality restaurants. They can also order of the regular menu or a kid friendly options will also be available!

  13. I think the replies have missed the OP's point that was referring to early marketing around the soon to be released suite only Luminae restaurant.

They intimated that 'fresh' and 'locally sourced' ingredients would be regular features of the new experience.

And being for a rather exclusive number of suite guests I would imagine this would be much more achievable than offering it to everyone...which is what Carnival appears to be doing per the review the OP came across

I think it's a great concept for Celebrity and its 'Modern Luxury' image...even the 'Chef Market Discovery' excursion another poster mentioned would be great to see offered more widely than it is. It's never been offered on our previous cruises [emoji853]

Some photos of an 8 deck FV cabin showing the smaller 2nd bedroom with bunk beds (I snuck in on disembarkation day, hence the unmade bed!)

Remember you still only have - bathroom, although you get the larger communal living space.

  15. That looks like a great option. I see one FV room available on the Silhouette, but nothing on the other. I guess that means they're already sold out?

I'm curious if anyone has experience with a FV, especially the usability of the veranda given the location. (And thanks to all for the helpful responses.)

They normally only release the FV cabins closer to sailing date, as they are held out of inventory as normally require a min of 5 passengers to book.

We were next door to one on a sailing and whilst the cabins on 7 deck have a smaller verandah, they are still quite workable. The 8 deck FV have less obstruction and are more open (like a normal balcony)

We were lucky as we travel with out two descendants and scored two interconnecting cabins from a guarantee deal! So we had 2 bathrooms and also and extra large balcony (as they opened the divider). It was wonderful each having our own 'zone'!!

The suite life would be wonderful, don't get me wrong...but I Think the 2 cabins will offer better space/privacy travelling with the kids at that age.

Also about interconnecting cabins...I have had same issue trying to secure them online whereas found my TA had access to them or calling Celebrity direct did the trick!

    Good luck with your decision!

  16. We have a lot of OBC to use up, so taking a break from Blu on a 12 night cruise will be nice.

A while back, someone posted that there was a 3 meal deal. Here is what I copied for my notes:

    "Specialty 3 Dinner Package" offer once onboard - Qsine+Tuscan+Bistro on 5 = $60 per person ($40 savings)

Does anyone know if that Bistro on 5 meal can be used during the lunch or early afternoon instead of the dinner hours?

There is a standard 3 night or 5 night speciality dining package you can prebook before sailing or once onboard (a little more expensive If you do, but still good value, especially if you have OBC to play with!!) m

I'm not sure if you're referring to yet another promo but I never thought Bistro on 5 was ever included in the standard offerings.

The only package I understood it was included is in the 'ultimate dining' package that is not advertised but you can book onboard on the 1st day allowing you to dine at any of the speciality restaurants for the duration of your cruise.
