We also went up to Muir woods,  less than an hour out of town, and walked 2 miles on a paved trail through the beautiful woods. 

Just got off of a cruise from San Francisco to Hawaii and back for 15 days.. Flew in from Buffalo 2 days early and got a chance to explore the area. Used Turo for the first time, a rental service much like AirB&B. It worked out well, with the car being delivered at the airport and I dropped it off at the port. Got in Tuesday morning, checked into our in-town old school motel, left our luggage there and took a dive across the Golden Gate. 

6 hours later on our way back to where we were 

Yep.. we're flying!!

I'm originally from Pittsburgh.. so tunnels are an everyday thing.. lol. 

LOL-   1000 foot gain... 

any good easy to moderate hikes along those routes?

What do you think about the Polynesian center?

Got tix for Pearl in the am, am there until 11pm.. looking for must-see, do or just a nice drive.. will be after 5 sea days, so will be itching to walk as well..

How hard/easy is it to get taxi/uber/bus to/from the Memorial? I'd like to get off the ship first thing, get there and back by noon-ish for ship luau tour 

Yep, but the only night visit and the only Luau's are on Oahu... 

Anyone done this? We want to do both, but there is no excursion that does both, and it seems the only Lua's available on the Ruby's cruise are on this island? Thinking of a bus to/from Pearl Harbor, then the Lua, depending in the timing.

I always try something 'different' everywhere I go.. even in the states there is 'weird' food. I come from a city where they put french fries and cole slaw on a sandwich. And now live in a town where they serve roast beef in buns covered with salt and caraway seeds..

The final stop was downtown. Under a lot of construction, and although the square looks nice, I wouldn't feel comfortable walking alone outside the square..I think that ship tourists are a rarity around here..

We were supposed to go to a "Amber Factory", was a local Jewelry shop.. but that's our only problem we had..

If the whales are out, best whale trip I've been on was in Cabo. And make sure you go to Cabo Wabo..

Best part of the tour was the fort. They charged $3 for entry and a audio device. Not a big fort at all, but..

Went to the Brewery/ $3 tour, was OK, some beer samples at end, but have been to better and had better brew..

We first went up high to get a view of the city, and then along the Malecon, the road on the water.

We were on the Glory over the holidays, and arrived at Amber Cove. We had a tour scheduled with MaryLou tours, but with the almost 2 hour delay in getting to the port and off the ship, by the time we got to the meeting point there was no one there.

We took a taxi tour of the city, and saw several of the highlights we were supposed to see on the other tour. This tour cost $30 each for 2 of us.
