  1. I recently found a YouTube channel, Cowboy Slots, and he made up a video specifically about slot machines on cruise ships. There was some stuff there that really surprised me, and I think you'll be surprised too. Anyway, here's a link to the video. Enjoy, and good luck!

  2. One other issue I've had is that except for the Royal poker tournament on Allure last year where they hired dedicated poker dealers, most of the dealers don't know the game or some of the rules very well. The floor managers also aren't very sure of the rules. I've had a few disputes on a ruling when I had to ask the manager to consult Robert's Rules of Poker.

  3. The rake is usually quite high on ships as well, so it might not be worth playing. It was something like 15% up to $10 or some other outrageous number.

They rake 10% up to $15 on Royal. Probably why they changed from 1-2 NLH to 1-3 NLH. Better shot at getting a rake on every pot. Word of advice, watch the rake carefully, some dealers will round up the pot and take an extra buck or two. They have those 50 cent chips there for a reason, make the dealer rake correctly.

  4. I am curious to hear what past cruisers thought of the Meet and Mingle on the Anthem. Did you enjoy it? Do people actually mingle? What does the crew of the Anthem do at this event? Please share your thoughts.

This isn't exclusive to Anthem, it's always been hit or miss for me. Sometimes there's a group that seems to enjoy engaging with others, sometimes it's been a bunch of sour faces just there to see if they can score a bottle of wine.

  5. We will be on Anthem of The Seas, October 1/16, sailing to Bermuda. We are wondering if we should notify the Casino Host that we will be on board before the sailing, and if so, who do I email? Is there any benefit to early notification? We are Casino VIP. Thanks for any help that is offered.

    Rhonda :)

I'll be on the same cruise with you. If there's not a welcome letter waiting in the stateroom, I'll track down the casino host when they open. Basically I just want my free drinks and sticker so I wont pay the 5% getting chips at the poker table.
