  1. So my wife has her heart set on a land based vacation in Aruba. After looking over the possibilities I've pretty much narrowed it down to the Divi Phoenix or Dutch Village. Any input from someone who's stayed there would be appreciated

  2. More helpful hints!

If you're traveling with kids -- Some insist on bringing their own favorite pillow from home. If you do, be sure to put a colored/patterned /cartoon pillowcase on it. If you bring a white one, you want to make sure you leave with your own property.

If you're looking to buy ship souvenirs, T-shirts & such (besides stuff you bought in ports) wait for the last 2 days on board. That's when they unveil all the stock & clearance items! Just be careful you don't get trampled on at the watch boxed sets table! Haha!

There is nothing worse than hearing your neighbor's activities & conversations. (I roomed next door to a bitter, squabbling drunk couple last time & swore I would never do it again.) If you should happen to be in a connecting rm bring a roll of blue painters tape to seal the doorway & earplugs just in case they are honeymooners. And remember... If you can hear them, they can hear you.

OMG yeah, do NOT stand between the little old ladies and the cheap watches when the first start selling. I actually was knocked down and stepped on by the "bargain hunters".

Awesome! It's all good, I wasn't offended - just surprised that people assume you're up to no good????

    Thanks for the Welcome :)

How to start an argument on an internet chat board:

    1) Post opinion

    2) Wait

  4. Fortunately, after quite a while of no visible progress, there is real movement/progress on the new terminal.

Then the bus process will no longer be used, and you will board the Quantum/Liberty/Anthem as you would any other ship.

    :)

My understanding of the situation, and with all due respect to the 9/11 families, a lot of the delay in construction was due to people protesting a temporary move of a 9/11 memorial (ironically to keep it from being damaged). Now that issue has been taken care of things are back underway.

  5. How are the portion sizes in the MDR? I have heard mixed reviews. I have the 8:15 so I'll probably have a snack before, just wondering how big the portions are.

    thanks!!

The portion sizes are fine. I have a big appetite and I never left hungry. I usually get soup and an appetizer, an entree, and dessert. That and the great rolls they keep bringing made sure that I was always well satisfied

  6. Hey All

I am going on explorer this Saturday - i have been on her 3 times already but am curious if any swimming will be possible due to the temperatures. ie will my 8 yr old get to swim in the pool and ocean. Also have a 2 yr old and hoping the kiddie pool is slightly warm. Has anyone been on the EOS last week or week b4 that can let me know?

    Thanks

    Erica

You should be OK swimming on board, but the water temps are only going to be around 70 in Bermuda. That's uncomfortable for swimming without a wetsuit. I don't remember if I've seen your name on our roll call, if you haven't joined it yet jump on in. See you guys Saturday

  7. sounds good advice dave i do genrally look for q-8 or better to proceed trouble is i keep getting 5-2 lol i jest its not that bad haha ,i do set myself strict nightly limits tho and dont touch slots roulette or that totally weird game no brit seems to work out (crabs/craps )my games of choich are 3 card poker caribbean stud i do love hold em but have never played on a cruise as it looks to dangerous ,i also love going to the lounges and trying to introduce folk to bastard brag ! another game i really like although it can be frustrating too ,:)

Three card poker, Caribbean stud, and those table games where it's you against the house aren't really poker. It's not hard to learn Hold-em, and very profitable when you do

  8. hi i play poker for fun (well i have to as actualy winning tends to elude me haha) whats a RAKE other than a garden implement

The rake is the house cut of each pot. In US land based casinos its usually 10% up to a maximum of $4 plus $1 for whatever jackpot pool they have. On ships they take from 10-15%, usually with a maximum of $10 or $15. And just some bonus advice, even though a cardinal rule is "never teach the fish", the reason most recreational players consistently lose money is that they play too many hands. Its hard to make a profit if you're pissing away $40 an hour limping in to see every flop

  9. I went on a helmet dive in St Maarten, and I'm going again in Bermuda. I spoke to Greg and he assured me that if the water is chilly, they provide wet suits free of charge. It should be a great experience

  10. Hey DonnaK,

We are looking at booking when the August 2015 schedule comes out. Let me know when you are thinking about sailing and maybe we can schedule the same week! :).

BTW, Nice Pic's from your last cruise. Nice to see the family is doing well!

I'm also waiting for the August 2015 dates to come out. I'm planning on taking my wife for our 25th anniversary and giving her a little surprise with an on-board vow renewal ceremony
